Excel cannot open the file because the file format or file extension is not valid

Excel cannot open the file because the file format or file extension is not valid is an error on Microsoft Excel when you cannot open an excel file. This problem mostly occurs if the excel file that you are trying to open is invalid or corrupted. Whenever you double click the file to open you will see an error that says the file can't be opened because the file you are trying to open doesn't have valid format or it doesn't have valid extension.
